Research has shown that a most important key to success is that of making a commitment to success. That means that you will have a much better chance of being successful if you make that kind of commitment.
What exactly does that mean, "commitment to success?" Well, to understand that, we need to look more closely at the idea of commitment.
A commitment is a promise or contract, usually to carry out some sort of agreed to action or obligation. Because of the way most people's minds work, we feel compelled to honor our commitments, even to ourselves. A commitment creates a powerful force within us to fulfill it. In this case, we are talking about making a commitment to our own success.
Before we explain how to use this to guarantee your success, let's look at the statements of some special people:
We all want to think of ourselves as good, honest people. So, when we make a commitment we try to keep it. In this case, when we make a commitment to ourselves to be successful in our new business adventure, we are making a serious promise to ourselves to be successful. To some of you, this may look like a game, but it's not. It is a serious, powerful self motivation technique. This is much more powerful than just wishing for success.
So far, all you have done is read about a Commitment to Success. That's very nice, but so far you haven't really moved any further toward success. The purpose of this page, this whole web site and of the Start Home Business Organization is to help people to become successful small business owners. We would like to help you, also, but only if that is what you want.
So, before we continue, you need to ask yourself this simple question – out loud, if possible – "Do I want to become successful in my own business?"
(Before you answer, take a moment to think about how you could benefit from being successful in your own business – even a part-time business. It would mean that you get to decide how much money you want to make; how hard you want to work; what kind of tasks you want to do yourself and what you want to farm out to others; where you want to work (from home?). It might mean that people around you, friends, relatives, neighbors, will look up to you as a role model and as a pretty neat person. The people who thought you couldn't do it will be in for a bit of a shock.)
Now you get to decide; what is your answer? If you want to be successful in your own business, feel free to say to yourself – preferably out loud; "I commit to myself to be successful in my own business." This simple answer starts you on your path to success.
If you made that commitment to success, you might already be feeling a bit of a excitement in your attitude and in your mind. You see, once you make that kind of commitment to yourself, your subconscious mind automatically starts to help you toward success. Suddenly, creative ideas will start to pop up out of nowhere. You'll see. If you didn't make that commitment to yourself, do it now.
Feeling good? It's time to feel even better. You can make your success come even faster and be more powerful and long-lasting. How? It's easy. Write it down. Right now, the commitment is still new to you. This will help to make it part of you.
Take a small piece of paper or an index card or even your business card if you have one. Your own handwriting is powerful. Write down your commitment to success: "I commit to myself to be successful in my own business." You can make this even more powerful by adding a short description of your business. Then, be sure to look at this commitment every morning as you are about to start your day.
